Ecole Estienne

GroupJoanna Cameron and I met at the Gordon Museum, Guy’s Hospital and had the pleasure of meeting 19 Medical Art and Illustration students from Ecole Estienne. Bill Edwards the Curator welcomed the group led by Professor Antoine Bernaud. Many of you may remember Antoine at AEIMS meetings.

The students were very interested in the wax models and specimins and they were all making some lovely sketches in various media (pencil, pen. crayon and water colour).

The course is for two years and is open to students who have a post baccalaureat diploma in art of science. The first year is varied, including studio works, English, French, graphic design, communication, Philosophy, Computer 2D, Typography, plastic expression, General and Neuro Anatomy. Also included is a three month internship in France or a foreign country.

In the second year there is some surgery, general Anatomy and illustration projects. They complete with a thesis and two presentations.
