Caroline Erolin
Biography
Caroline Erolin obtained her MSc in Medical Art in 2002 and a PhD in Medical Visualisation in 2016. She is a Reader in Medical Art at the University of Dundee and is Programme Lead for the MSc’s in Medical Art, where she teaches traditional and digital medical illustration as well as 3D scanning and modelling.
Caroline's research focuses on the use of 3D modelling and scanning for anatomy and medical education, investigating questions around new technologies (VR, AR etc) and user preferences for realism and detail preference. She also have an interest in making medical care and information more diverse and equitable, especially in terms of women’s health and improving representation in healthcare. Caroline is a Fellow of the Institute of Medical Illustrators, and a member of the Medical Artists Association of Great Britain.
Outside of work Caroline is also a traditional printmaker working out of her home studio in the Scottish countryside. Inspired by nature, her love of animals, and her career as a lecturer in medical art, Caroline's prints tend to include animal subjects, often with an anatomical twist!
