Biography
After studying human medicine in Budapest, Hungary, and Innsbruck, Austria, and completing her doctorate in the medical field pediatric surgery, Dr. Diekmann (nèe Grebe) began her clinical work in 1998 at the Institute for Radiology at the Charite University Hospital in Berlin. As part of her scientific work she focused on breast imaging. In 2004, she received specialist certification in the field of diagnostic radiology. In the years 2005 - 2012 she focused on neuroradiology, studied Neuroimaging for Research at the University of Edinburgh, Great Britain (degree with distinction, M.Sc.) and acquired the European Certificate of Neuroradiology in 2011. This was followed in 2012 by the Certification as specialist in neuroradiology in the speciality radiology. In 2010 she worked as deputy program manager in mammography screening in the BBG 01 Northwest unit. After 12 years of scientific work at the Charité (Berlin), she has been working as a medical consultant at Fraunhofer MEVIS (Bremen) since 2013 and as a teleradiologist at Telemedicineclinic (Barcelona, Spain) from 2016-2019. Since 2019, Susanne Diekmann has specialized in the field of medical illustration (MAET, London, Great Britain) in addition to her medical work, with the aim of visually conveying medical facts for patients/medical laypeople. Susanne Diekmann and her husband Felix Diekmann live in Bremen and have two children.
