Gillian Lee
Biography
After training at art school and then by the Medical Artist’s Association at Guy’s Hospital, London, I worked at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital and the Institute of Urology as a Medical Artist before becoming a Fulltime Freelance Illustrator. For over 30 years I have enjoyed and participated in all aspects of the Profession especially in Surgery, Anatomy and Dentistry.
I also work in Medical Publishing, Pharmaceutical advertising and training, Medico-legal, Scientific and Forensic Imaging as well as illustrating books, leaflets and web sites, which are becoming very popular to help in the medical education of the general public. I have seen the work change from producing pen and ink and watercolours by hand to computer generated images and animation. I am the Art Editor for Rob and Smith, Operative Surgery, which involves approximately 15 Volumes of specialised and highly illustrated Operative Surgery. Medical Art has provided me with a wonderful profession that I thoroughly enjoy.
