A friendly and relaxed series of life drawing evenings in the evocative setting of Europe’s oldest surviving operating theatre, touching on the fascinating interplay between art and the study of medical anatomy through the ages. Each event will feature a life model in a variety of poses, with a different theme every week to provide a focus for participants’ creativity. Suitable for all skill levels, these sessions are a great way to welcome in the autumn season!
Session 1: Écorché Essentials (14th October, 2024) The first session will centre on the early days of medical anatomy and the unsettling yet essential practice of the Écorché*, objects of both aesthetic beauty and grim necessity.
