This one-day workshop offers an in-depth introduction to hominin facial reconstruction, blending forensic anthropology with artistry.
Participants will learn how to identify sex, age, and health indicators from the skull and apply this knowledge to create a scientifically grounded likeness of Homo heidelbergensis. The workshop will also cover specialized wax modeling techniques essential to this unique art. Taking place on Friday 17th July, at the Gordon Museum, the course is led by Catherine Bone, a PhD researcher in hominin facial reconstructions using Geometric Morphometrics, and is offered by the Medical Artists’ Education Trust. The participants shall be provided with 3D print of a Homo Erectus skull and mandible which is included in the cost of the ticket.
