With only 4 seats left, this is a rare opportunity to delve into the fascinating world of facial reconstruction using insights from both human and chimpanzee anatomy. This one-day workshop offers an in-depth introduction to hominin facial reconstruction, blending forensic anthropology with artistry. Participants will learn how to identify sex, age, and health indicators from the skull and apply this knowledge to create a scientifically grounded likeness of Homo heidelbergensis. The workshop will also cover specialised wax modelling techniques essential to this unique art.
Taking place on February 21st, 2025, at the Gordon Museum, the course is led by Catherine Bone, a PhD researcher in hominin facial reconstructions using Geometric Morphometrics, and is offered by the Medical Artists’ Education Trust.
Don’t miss out on this exclusive chance to develop and enhance your understanding of our ancient ancestors allowing you to create and take home your own wax reconstruction.
